SSAAANZ Regional Hubs

We encourage members to continue or create regional SSAAANZ ‘hubs’, to bring people together face-to-face in between the biennial conference. This is an opportunity to share research in progress, and compare teaching experiences and approaches, and socialise with fellow screen studies scholars. It might take the form of regular or occasional meetings, seminars, roundtable discussions, or screenings. The regional hubs are distinct from Special Interest Groups (SIGs) focused on a particular area of screen studies. Rather, the hubs are location based, and the topics can vary to enable colleagues across multiple organisations to share a wide variety of research and teaching interests. Although the hubs were initiated with in-person gatherings in mind, hubs could also choose to have online meet-ups as well. If you are interested in reviving or creating a regional hub, please contact the general secretary, Claire Henry claire.henry@flinders.edu.au

Melbourne SSAAANZ Hub

The Melbourne SSAAANZ Hub was created in 2022 to facilitate the opportunity to meet face-to-face during The Materials of Screen Media online conference. In 2023, SSAAANZ would like to revive this group and invite any interested members in the Melbourne region to participate. If you have work in progress that you would like to present on, or have reflections on teaching screen media that you would like to share or workshop, please contact the convenor Djoymi Baker: djoymi.baker@rmit.edu.au

To start the re-launch, Melbourne SSAAANZ Hub will meet to discuss “Teaching Screen Studies Post-Covid 19 and Post ChatGPT”, to be held on Monday 13 th November at 4.00-5.30pm at RMIT, building 80, level 10, room 13 (080.10.013) with drinks at The Oxford Scholar to follow, 427 Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000. This will be an opportunity for us to reflect on our teaching practices in changing times, and share useful strategies.

All welcome! Free registration here
