The first conference of the Screen Studies Association of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand will be held at Victoria University of Wellington from November 23-25, 2016. This conference, which incorporates the Film and History/FHAANZ label, is open to all scholars working across Film, Media and Television Studies. We welcome innovative research on any topic in these fields, especially papers that explore transformations in screen industries, technologies, and texts in Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region.

The conference will include a keynote presentation by Professor Deb Verhoeven from Deakin University and a plenary session on recent developments in local and global television. Select papers will be published in Studies in Australasian Cinema, MEDIANZ: Media Studies Journal of Aotearoa New Zealand, and Screening the Past.

Individual papers will be 20 minutes in length. Pre-constituted panels are welcome.

Please send abstracts of 150-200 words to ssaaanz2016@gmail.com by July 15, 2016. Abstracts should include name, institutional affiliation, full contact details, and a short biographical note.
